DC

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, DC moved to the UK with his mother when he was five years old. Initially, DC’s dream had been to pursue a career in football and, for a while, that looked like the path he’d go down. Eventually, he found his way into university where he discovered that the little bits of writing and rhyming he’d been playing around with at home might actually have some mileage.

It was around this time he recorded the ‘Gleamin’ Freestyle’. Currently sitting at 560,000 views on YouTube, even the preview he posted to Twitter went viral and still gets reshared in conversations about the greatest UK freestyles. Part two, released soon after the first, was just as well received, quickly racking up six-figure streams on YouTube.

Showcasing a blend of rap, grime, garage and drill on his debut project ‘In The Loop’, produced by TSB, he found success with tracks like ‘Neighbourhood’, which has racked up more than 13 million streams to date.
He also collaborated with Knucks on ‘Bobby & Rowdy’ and the project’s ten tracks are lean but efficient, packing DC’s faith, the area he grew up in, how hard he finds it to trust people, and the work he’s putting into improving his standing in life.
Standout independent release ‘The Latest’ also boasts over 22 Million Spotify streams since its release in 2022.

2024 releases have consisted of ‘The Curb’ Ft Blanco released in April which was followed by a european remix featuring Netherlands rapper Chivv and French rapper Jolagreen in June – rounding off the year with a birthday release entitled Marathon Freestyle.

DC cites early Skepta freestyles, Marvel and grime crew The Movement as his biggest influences. With more new music and a project on the horizon, there’s nothing holding DC back and he is on track for a big 2025.
